I Need some ZZZZ help!

Okay - here's a weight related issue that I'm sure many of us must struggle with. SNORING! I never really had a snoring problem until I gained weight. Late hubby was a sound sleeper and never complained. Present hubby is a light sleeper and often has to move to the couch because my nasal serenading keeps him awake.

I also suffer sleep apnea but it isn't bad enough that I require a C-Pap mask while sleeping. The Dr. at the sleep clinic advised a tennis ball sewn into the back of a night shirt so I don't sleep on my back. (Which I never did because it seemed too odd...) He also said that losing weight would alleviate the apnea and I'm assuming the snoring also. When my brother lost a lot of weight my sister-in-law said the snoring subsided greatly.

So I'm working on the weight. But in the meantime - does anyone have any tried & true remedies?? I want hubby back in bed with me! I feel awful that I keep him awake all night. I've heard of couples who sleep in separate bedrooms because of this and I don't want it to come to that! Hubby has the hearing acuity of a watch dog and can hear a pin drop in the next room. Which doesn't help much here. I suggested he get some ear plugs but he balked at the idea. I sleep like a log and he says someone has to be able to hear the bumps in the night. He's the protector of the castle type...)

So - if anyone has temporary remedy that works for them - please let me know! I spent enough nights in that bed alone when I was a widow....

Ear Plugs!! Serious it helps!! My husband snores ( which IS getting MUCH better now that he is losing weight). But when he rolls onto his back ACK so I just use ear plugs and although it doesn't always tune him completely out it does muffle it enough to not wake me in the middle of the night. That and a lot of poking HAHA to make him roll over that is!! Your Dr. Is right. Your snoring should diminish a lot when you lose the weight. At least that has been my experience as hubby loses weight.

Good luck!! Its a toughy. I spent many nights on the couch before ear plugs lol.

Have a SUPER day!

Sorry Laura, I'm afraid I've got no valuable advice here. My partner and I sleep in separate rooms deliberately, not just because of the snoring, and it has no negative impact on our relationship at all. Quite the opposite... as we're both much happier people when we get decent sleep. But I understand people's desire to sleep close to their partner of course, so I hope you find something that'll help you achieve that.

I know exactly what you mean! I snore like a drunken sailor. My favourite sleeping position is on my back. I'm too fat to sleep on my stomach, and my back gets sore from sleeping on my side. So, I saw logs. Loudly.

In the beginning of our relationship, Craig would leave my apartment and go home in the early hours of the morning. For the dogs, he said, but really to get some sleep. On the way home he used to vow that he was never going back to me. My snoring was just too much! But then halfway through the day he'd remember how much he really liked me and how nice I was, so he'd be back my evening! When he told me this I franctically tried to get some remedy, but there isn't really anything. Except losing weight.

He got used to it, but I may not fall asleep with my head on his chest - his chest amplifies my snores!

I'd go for the plugs, if he can't get used to the snoring.

Ah yes. I have that issue too. Ear plugs are good, they dampen down the noise a bir.

I snore on occasion, and once when we were all campng out in a motel room I lay down to close my eyes and everyone else was watching TV. I fell asleep and then snored once quite loudly - so much so that I bolted awake and said "Hey, who's that snoring, you woke me up!" lol

Gosh I was hoping that you would have tons of answers here. My husband is such a loud snorer and its tough. I did invest in a set of ear plugs though - not cheapies that hurt your ears - some nice ones. Sometimes I laugh because I fall asleep SO fast and sleep so good because I don't even hear the phone ring. It's a tough one though - but that is what works for me. Don't think I could sleep in another room.
